Students are not the only ones that are likely to become addicted but it can be self destructive to them more than others. My reason for saying this is because being a student isn't easy especially those in tertiary institutions, they need to be focused on their studies without any distractions but gambling can take them off track and even make some of them drop out of school. When this happens it becomes bad for their mental health
Students are very much into gambling because of the amounts they receive as upkeep, if they are not getting enough cash from sponsors, they make an option to gamble with the little amount given to them, it happens this way not because they like to gamble with the risk but it is the only opportunity they can think of to add extra cash and still maintain focus in their studies without trying to do side jobs and spend time hustling outside. Gambling can only affect finances, but not regarding losing focus on studies.
When a student is studying, he is usually dependent on his family or if he can create a job sector along with his studies or do a job, then he can meet the expenses of his studies. If in this situation he gets involved in gambling again, then I think it can have a bad effect on his studies in two ways. One is that he will not be able to pay the tuition fees on time and the other is that he will not be able to pay much attention to his studies. However, if that student has enough money or has sufficient income opportunities, then gambling can create only one problem for him, which is that he will not be able to pay full attention to his studies. So I always advise that especially those who are studying and those who are below 18 years of age should at least complete their studies and then become an adult and then get involved in gambling.
