Still, one cannot ignore there have been many cases of students who committed the mistake of using their college budget to bet on sports and lost it all to their bad luck and poor choices on teams and matches. It kind of reminds me a particular case about a young African guy who was studying electrical engineering, but got caught in gambling and betting because of his friends, there was a thread about his case here in this section of the forum last year, sadly, he lost all his money and ended up dying by suicide, leaving his family with a endless pain they will likely never get over.
So in the most extreme cases, student who have yet to finish paying for their education could attempt against their own life or even harm themselves, because they have not grown responsible enough and they don't know what gambling is really about. For someone to win at betting it is needed many others to lose, plus the slice which is taken by the bookie itself.
