Students are very much into gambling because of the amounts they receive as upkeep, if they are not getting enough cash from sponsors, they make an option to gamble with the little amount given to them, it happens this way not because they like to gamble with the risk but it is the only opportunity they can think of to add extra cash and still maintain focus in their studies without trying to do side jobs and spend time hustling outside. Gambling can only affect finances, but not regarding losing focus on studies.
Parents can prevent this from happening by choosing a different option to give to their student children. Not allowances, but food is better, especially if the school is near the house. That way, there won't be urges to gamble, and it's better if they are innocent about these things at an early stage of their life.

Now that many online casinos have opened and offering cheap minimum bets, it's really inviting to anyone, even the teenagers who are still getting little allowances will probably test it out. It's better if they don't know anything about it.
Student needs both the allowance and food, excluding one from their supply keeps them lacking. Parents prefer giving allowance only to help the children understand money management, if they keep giving only food, maybe the children won't value how much spent to buy them.

Children are different, if a child doesn't want to gamble, despite the situation it won't be of interest. All hands cannot be equal when providing for a child, discipline from home will help the child select what to do and what to avoid.
