Students are more likely to get addicted than an older because when they see their studies as their main job, they get some extra time during which they start looking for opportunities to earn money. Even if someone can arrange a job, in most cases it is not possible. They can spend idle time and during that time many of the students try to gamble for some money. If they get money sitting at home without any effort, it is certainly not a bad idea but at some point students become addicted there, although not all of them, but they are more likely to get addicted. This picture is not the same in all areas and it may be more or less in some areas.
It is true that students can have a bigger chance to get addiction. It is because the students still have weak mentality, unmatured, and they naturally love playing games. Moreover if they can earn some money from gambling, it will trigger them to be easier addicted. It will be like a motivation for them to get easy money.
Those students will try to gamble as often as possible because they think it will increase the chance to get money. They don't know that it will never impact much, raising the amount of money to gamble will never increase the chance to win. At the end of the day, they will gamble with more money because they are trying to recover losses. This leads them to gamble excessively and be addicted. If this happens, they won't focus to study anymore because they only think about playing gambling games and dream winning huge money.
