I think that I scare some folks away from investing into bitcoin too... since I tend to tell then that they have to be responsible for their own choices and not come crying to me if they lose money.. yet at the same time, I am frequently saying that bitcoin investing is ongoingly likely amongst the best if not the best place for everyone and anyone all around the world with discretionary income to put their time, energy and value.
Some people are best scared away to prevent them from discouraging you while trying to convince them into accepting your view on a particular course. I know of some friends who would always make mockery of any online investment. When I tried to let them understand that bitcoin is not as other regular online investments, they started with their negative energy which I immediately admitted that bitcoin is not a good venture. Real investors understand that bitcoin is the next luxury of assets and has proven to stand the test of time.

To be honest, I tell people like that as well, and I believe it is the best thing to do because the majority of people who are new to bitcoin believe it is an investment that will provide them with a quick profit in return. If you do not inform the newbies that they are responsible for their losses if they invest, and Bitcoin investment does not guarantee a large return, many of their expectations will be high, perhaps Bitcoin will provide them with a profit they have never seen before.

You're not doing anything wrong, in my opinion, even though Bitcoin is the best investment that is worth our money. However, we must let some people know that they are responsible for any losses they face because some people may choose to invest in something other than Bitcoin and if they lose their money; they will blame you for introducing them to Bitcoin.
It is not as if investors are ready to loose their assets, but that's the mindset most newbies have which makes it difficult to convince them into bitcoin investment. Sometimes, persuading someone into bitcoin investment exposes him to loosing his own money due to the high expectations you would paint while trying to get him to accept your view about bitcoin. He goes on to Panic-sell and blames the loses on you.  Give every newbie a basic knowledge and allow him learn the rest. It's even better to teach only the bad side, focusing your introduction on losses to prepare his mind better than when you show him only gains. Anyone that still goes into bitcoin investment after that would make a better investor than a random profit-seeking gambler who believes everything should change his own ways to give him only profits.
