If business owners, taxi owners, hotel owners and others who claim to be working for themselves need to depend on customers and customer satisfaction for profit, that is to be able to get money from them, are they really working for themselves?

Maybe the people who are actually working for themselves are those who do not need people or to satisfy any customer to make profit, example like the traders who do not need to lure customers to their shop like business owners or hotel owners, or taxi owner that need to follow instructions from their clients etc.

What could be the real definition of working for yourself?
Working for yourself in a literal meaning simply means having your own business, it does not mean that you are not expecting patronage from any other person, it means you are the CEO of your business and you pay tax in fortherance with the revenue that your company generates, nobody can sack you, nobody can wake up one morning and close up your business. The example of people working for themselves like traders you mentioned is simply the same thing like the hotel owner, a taxi driver will need patronage from Passengers, a trader needs to leurelure customers to patronize their goods, so nobody is just an island that you can just stay and have your own money from the thin air, theyou most either patronize somebody or people are patronizing you.
