You have a point though, a loss is a loss...But if you haven't experienced something like this then you can't understand the pain that comes with it. It's quite normal to combine a lot of games and at the end of the day have a cut one especially when the potential win is a huge amount of money..this is definitely going to sting for a while anytime you think about how to you were close to making a large amount of money, we can't erase near misses from gambling
It will feel bad and then you will think - what if I had made a slightly different bet and then all the money would be mine - this is wrong thinking. We tend to think that we could always win but that is never the case in gambling. The outcome of any event is never 100% predictable so luck matters and thus we should avoid using these terms like near-miss, it is not a miss it is a loss.

Well on the contrary, there's this betting platform(Naira bet) in my country that offered a mild return for one ticket cutting your betslip(I don't know if they still do it now). When one game cuts your slip, they minus the odds of the game from the multiplier and give you 10% of the remaining money. I think it was used for marketing those days, but they really made near misses less painful for the gambler.
Less painful but nothing to break even obviously. More like a impulse to keep you gambling more and indeed a good marketing method. However I am yet to see any of the big names add in such a thing in their platforms.
