Did your friend forget his account which is why he was trying to recover it? If so, it’s kind of a blessing in disguise. Because if you forgot your account and only remembered it recently then it’s certain you will end up profiting from bitcoin. This kind of accounts are proof that if you hold bitcoin for a long time, you will end up profitable
It was forgotten and recovered back in 2020 or 2021, somewhere there, quite a few years ago, and then forgotten again till now. I reminded him about a week ago and he had completely forgotten about it. So yeah, receiving money out of nowhere is a blessing in disguise.
Maybe not huge as what we are seeing on Bitcoin nowadays that's why majority of past Bitcoin users usually forget about their holdings before since they didn't expect that they would ever get a huge profit for it in future.
But its really good to see those people who put their 100% trust on Bitcoin and still in control with their HODL funds since we can say that they are really earning huge profits for Bitcoin at current rate.
I'm not sure if I still have funds left for my non-costudial wallets before but will try to see if I'm not busy I can find some luck on those wallets I use before.
Well it's true, millions of Bitcoins have been lost, imagine finding your lost wallet with hundreds of Bitcoins. I've personally lost a few wallets, one was on the Xapo platform, another was a Doge wallet with over 400 Doge in it, and a few others which were stored in my computer, and are lost forever.
Recently, I took a look at one of the wallets I used in 2010. It was jaw dropping for me when I saw how much the tiny bits of coin I had withdrawal were worth in present time. Like you said, just imagine a €1k Bitcoin investment in 2015 and what it would've worth in 2025.
I remember back in 2014-2015 a platform which accumulated all drops from faucets, it was called BitPay, ePay? I don't remember. Keep in mind that faucets paid anywhere from 200 to 2000 satoshis, and these were lost as I had left them accumulate and then forgot about them.
