How does the merit sources pick posts for merits? Do they have bots that specifically identifies those posts like filtering a thread to find worth quality post to merit? Or just hovering around threads in their specified board they are in charge off and then merits randomly according to their own decisions?
Different styles of picking exist. Some will merit the thread/post they read and replied to. A few might be interested in a certain thread and start giving merits to all the deserving posts. While many others do it randomly, with no specific pattern. Mood matters too.
I am curious because I see posts that is more qualified for merits but ignored while lower quality posts at being merited or could it also mean there is favouritism in there?
I won't pretend that I don't see these lapses too. Still, be clearof one thing, the merit sources are human beings, and anywhere human beings are given the responsibility and power, you will certainly see human nature playing out. Some don't care about what you write if you are not in their good book.
