What could be the real definition of working for yourself?
For me personally working for myself is when I do anything for my own good. Being a hotel owner or business owner then of course you must be able to provide the best service to your consumers. That is not being a slave to others. For me when my business makes people happy and interested in what I offer means I have given value to myself. And improving skills, knowledge and health is a form of working for yourself. If you are a driver then you are a driver who knows all the streets in the city. If you are a hotel owner then you know how to make people like you. And if you are a businessman then you know the problems that people face and your product is the solution. Yes for me working for myself is you continue to add value to yourself every day.
Working for yourself means that you get to make independent decisions in your business, when you don't take any orders or directions from a superior on how to run the affairs of your business. Your aim is to satisfy your customers by giving them value for their money, in marketing I will say that customer is king because they pay you money, without them your business will flop. Satisfying your customers doesn't mean that they own or control you, you can choose how you want to run your business and if a customer is happy with it they will patronze you. Except money is gifted to you, through inheritance or you picked it up by chance you need to work for your money, whether you are working for yourself or others.
