The only way winning can ruin one's life is if one loses after winning. So, in that case it's not winning but losing. Except one is hypertensive, and could've cardiac attack because of the excitement from a particular winning (especially if it's a jackpot) I don't see anything to be scared of winning. Just the thought of winning should provoke joy and not fear.
