Avoid centralized exchange for storing you coins, you can make use of a decentralized exchange instead, examples are bisq and hodl hodl.

Buying many crypto isn't the secret to having a good investment, It's buying Bitcoin that is a good investment. You can get lucky from altcoins but that's not certain. By the way, first and foremost, welcome to this forum as I see this is your first post here, the only multi currency wallet that is self custody and supports bitcoin and ethereum that I know of currently is Trust wallet, but I must be sincere with you, many people complain that Trust wallet is not open source but for me, I've never seen this as a serious issues since I use it as a hot wallet where I transfer and receive funds quickly, I also keep funds that I am ready to spend at any time on this wallet.

Op you're welcome to the forum, If I were you I wouldn't be asking for wallets to hold altcoins, I'll focus more on bitcoin since this is a new experience. Amongst several altcoins, bitcoin being the first coin ever has do many advantages over altcoins, and that includes reputation and the possibility of breaking more ATH irrespective of how old it is compared to several altcoins that lasted for only some few hours.

My role model when it comes to privacy is Satoshi. If you don't know how to keep your crypto assets secret, you may find it difficult to survive in the crypto space. You should learn how to keep your seed phrase and other sensitive information private. With the increasing rate of attacks crypto holders are suffering at the hands of kidnappers and other criminals, you would have to learn to keep your mouth shut and live a private life.

I will advise you do your own research on any coins that will be recommended to you before risking your money into it. Except for bitcoin I don't actually recommend altcoins to newbies due to their high risk involved.

I would have recommended electrum wallet for you due to its starter friendly features but since you're in search of a wallet that accommodates multiple coins, maybe exodus wallet or trust wallet will be what you need, depending on your perception about security.

Trust wallet is a okay wallet that support variety of cryptocurrencies I but suggest you use a non custodial wallet that is open source like Unstoppable. Metamask is also another good option.

Privacy is very important. You will want to keep your seed phrase private, and be careful when sharing your personal information on websites. I’d advice you use a non-custodial wallet to store your coins so you have full ownership of your coins and use decentralized exchanges.
