Exactly, most of Real Madrid loss last season was because of lack of defenders and it was very obvious, their attackers are quite okay and even their midfielders but the problem they were having was that the moment the ball passes the midfield it becomes difficult to stop. If Real Madrid wants to go far next season they should try as much as possible to also equipped their defense line the way they equipped there front liners else they will still experience same thing this coming season and I believe the new manager has started working on that now and if he successfully build that defense, Real Madrid will be very strong to defeat.

Real Madrid have recruited Alexander Arnold and Dean Huijsen to strengthen their defense next season, in my opinion Xabi Alonso now has a fairly complete and ideal squad. It's just that several other key players are still experiencing long term injuries, and maybe when the season starts those players will return to the squad.

Xabi Alonso just needs to find the right strategy to be able to maximize all the potential of his players, and I think he is able to carry out the task very well. His understanding of the club will help a lot, and so far he has begun to look like he is enjoying his new job. Two matches have been played without being defeated, maybe in the hands of Xabi Alonso Real Madrid will record an unbeaten record like he did with Leverkusen.
