I understand the point you're trying to make, although the ballon d'Or is an individual award, it recognize the excellence of a player whether goalkeeper, midfielder strikerand strikers performance in a calendar year. However the goalkeepers and defenders efforts to a large extent haven't been recognize enough, so it will not be out of place if a categories is been set aside to recognize the goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers. Sincerely speaking I would have loved to see Manuel Neuerwin the Ballon d'Or during his prime, man was outstanding.
