When I first wanted to quit gambling, I didn't have to tell myself "Stop".
I simply ran out of money.
I realized that my budget couldn't provide me with constant replenishment of the deposit for gambling, because all my expenses are very important and I don't want to sacrifice either buying new clothes or ordering delicious food just to replenish the deposit later. It seems to me that every gambler has his own priorities, and not everyone's moral principles will allow him to start lending money for gambling.
