It is quite surprise that Szczęsny signed new two years deal with Barcelona after saying he would retire but he likely felt tired from playing at top level and later realized how much he missed football. His strong performance last season probably convinced Barcelona to keep him especially with Marc André ter Stegen injured. Now it will be interesting to see him compete with young talent Joan García for starting goalkeeper spot which could be good for both players and team.

Even though initially Barcelona only brought in Szczęsny in the second half of last season only as an emergency option when Ter Stegen suffered a long injury but Barca saw his very good performance which was able to create 14 Cleansheets in 30 matches in all competitions made Barcelona like this goalkeeper and finally decided to offer him a contract and he agreed.
This is a very good option for Barcelona but I don't know next season he will play as a main player or a second substitute because Barcelona has also brought in Joan Garcia from Espanyol, but the most important thing is that Barca has found a solution for their defense.
