Is gambling really the problem or are we the problem?
Gambling is not the problem, we create the problem. Gambling is a form of entertainment or a way for a lonely person to pass the time. But we misrepresent it and we use it in ways that defeat its true purpose. Those who know how to use gambling properly actually consider it an important means of entertainment. Those who consider gambling as a source of income and cannot even use gambling properly are the ones who misrepresent gambling to the public.
You are right that most gamblers misapply gambling and it sends the wrong message to the general public and makes gambling a negative thing. The important thing about gambling is that even if you gamble for fun, you can still get addicted. The money you allocate for gambling should be limited to a source of discretionary income. Use a plan and strategy to allocate your playing time, such as stopping when you lose or winning. The amount of control you have over your strategy and how you implement it will depend on how much you are able to control it.

Gambling is not a source of income, but rather a source of entertainment. It will be good for you because every activity involves entertainment and there is a compulsive response to losing money.
I support the fact that we tend to look at gambling through a limited perspective as in the case of winning and losing only. Actually, the thing we should emphasize is the way one copes with himself/herself when dealing with an urge and money. Consider gambling as entertainment and not a way of earning money, and you have already made one step to wiser people. We should also keep in mind that pleasure would still become a problem in the event that it is not restricted by consciousness. It does not imply that we must not in any degree engage in this activity, but how we put it in our lives will go a long way in influencing how much we will be affected by it. I believe, with the well-established boundaries both concerning time, emotions and money, we are able to prevent this activity to overtake our lives. The problem is once we begin to think lucky is a strategy. That is what catches people. Therefore, gambling might remain a healthy amusement as long as you realize when to quit because you cannot solve life challenges through it.
