I will never blame this person, yes a Bitcoin is $2 at the time but what about his survival? That amount might be a lot for him to survive at the time, would you rather get yourself killed for something that you are sure will worth hundreds of thousands in the future?

For this to possible you have to consider your present situation, how you are living life, it doesn't have to be perfect but you should be able to feed yourself and pay your bills, if you can't do that then you will get into Bitcoin for quick profits and sell again.

I keep hoping bitcion drops to 20k again so I can buy.

I had one friend who bought at the top at 20k and then it dropped a fair amount and he sold, and after that point it went up.

Now my plan is to buy small amounts and just hold.

It might never happen again but not impossible, because every four years something bad always happen that will drag the value down, I am expecting something similar to happen in 2026, it was FTX and Luna crash in the past, oy God knows what will happen next, still I don't expect BTC to go below 30k again, not now that ETF is in place.
