it's a weird subject to talk about because we usually don't know in detail about the laws of the spiritual world
in theory if you believe in spirit and energetic matters it would affect our lives fully, without exception
but how to know for sure?
at the end of the day I agree that when discussing gambling it's better to be more pragmatic and direct instead of imagining too many things.
Science already has very well defined studies about dopamine addiction, I don't think it's spiritual. The biggest proof is that many games are made in a way that it gives the dopamine hits on users to get them hooked. Like the slots games where there are many flash lights, sounds, winning effects. It's why people can get addicted, because we are still a meat machine with the same DNA of our ancerstors that needed some cues to survive and get rewarded for that
the thing is that if you don't believe in spirit or energy outside of the materialistic view than any spiritual argument won't matter at all
but if you do believe in it then you'll accept that everything is spiritual because how could it not be?
I think it's unproductive to try to grasp these things since they're outside of our scope
better to discuss addictions from a spiritual point of view instead of going specific to gambling
