Actually, there is not much to panic about concerning this Real Madrid dilemma because it is only obvious that the issue here is just about the end of an era which is the case, I think the Spanish side has dominated European football for quite a long time now and at such other clubs would have developed capacity all these years but what I expect Xabi Alonso to do right now is to try and see how he would impact on the players mentality because the entire team seem to having some sort of psychological issues as a result of last season's encounters against Barcelona, Arsenal, the injuries, and the departure of Carlo Ancelotti.
I think everyone is ready to start a new era. Xabi and the Madrid players certainly haven't performed at their best, but they have time to adjust. Last season wasn't great for Madrid, but perhaps they had high hopes for the Club World Cup. There were reports that the club management would offer the players large bonuses if they won the trophy. Unfortunately, they haven't been able to receive them.
Xabi must prepare for next season. The competition will certainly be tough, but he has players he can rely on. Madrid has never been short of talent.
