LMAO this news is 15 years old. To date Quantum Computing hasn't been demonstrated to break SHA-0
which came out in 1993 let alone SHA-256 which is billions of times stronger.
SHA algorithm is a technology created by NIST government agency. The NIST is already finalizing the next version of
SHA which is designed to be quantum-resistant, which bitcoin will implement when it is released.
According to NIST they are in no hurry because QC is nowhere near able to break even the oldest versions of SHA encryption let alone the latest.
That's wonderful to be reminded of.
All the quantum fuzz would still be there, though, with knowing that it's not more that a distant possibility, the one that would probably be turned to something else not in our lifetimes
