Djokovic won his first Grand Slam in 2008 and he has been proving over and over again for 17 years that he's the greatest tennis player of all time. That must still drive some people crazy. Under normal circumstances a player his age should've retired long ago, yet here he is reaching his 19th Wimbledon semi final. You don't even need to be a tennis expert, anyone with the slightest knowledge of the sport knows how important Djokovic's place is in the history of tennis.
This is what I think is sometimes unfair when players of any kind of sport are measured by their own standard while they have been dominant for more than a decade. What Djokovic achieves today at the age of 38 is what many other players can only dream of and will never be able to do. Reaching a semifinal in Wimbledon is incredible and unachievable for most, yet if Djokovic would lose this semifinal, most tennis fans think this must again be a disappointing experience for him. It is disappointing of course as is every loss for a player, but as long as he is able to reach these stages in any tennis tournament, I understand he is not willing to give this sport up as a professional just yet.
His prime was amazing and I think players like Alcaraz and Sinner know that he has a much harder time to go 5 sets today than he had in his prime. I don't think Djokovic could beat Alcaraz in a 5th set if that would be what Wimbledon holds for us this year.
