Regarding the leaderboard for BTCTalk it is $5000 between now and end of the month and has already started. The API will be built in the next few days so its trackable and prizes will be announced. But if you signed up under reflink BTCTalk you are already earning points for the leaderboard.

I would also suggest setting up a dedicated thread for the contest in
Games and Rounds which includes the full mechanics so it gets better traction in the forum. I would say, most people are probably still not aware that an exclusive race has started, thus IMO the team needs to raise traction.
From what I understand from what I read in the op, the bitcointalk leaderboard will start as from 15th of this month, what this means for me is that it's from on the 15th that they will start counting points officially, that is, for them to give everyone who has registered with the slated reflink a fair start, already earned points may have to be resetted back to zero for all and everyone can start earning points afresh, the first payment for this contest will be on the 30th of July which is two weeks from the day the contest began being the 15th.
This is how I personally understand this based on what I read from the op, I might be wrong anyway, most especially if there is already somewhere within the pages of this thread that the op gave an explanation of this that is different from what I've said, if such be the case, then I stand to be corrected and would appreciate it.
