When I lost access to the coin on his website, I guess I should have looked around for some answers. For a long time I thought it was a password problem though.
Do you, or does anyone, know how many coins remain “unresolved”?

I do not. I know - so far at least - only the 2FA coins are an issue because they were never loaded. According to Tim, he had stored the funds on Mt. Gox hoping to earn yield and lost it all when they got hacked - and since that time had been using sales to pay any 2FA coins being redeemed - eventually that just wasn't enough. I think he was hoping the Mt. Gox issue would get resolved faster than it has taken.
