Certainly Xabi Alonso has left a mark in the club that should be emulated by his successor Erik Ten Hag but I doubt the former Manchester United manager will be able to replicate Xabi Alonso’s success. I can only hope that he does not drag them down the pecking order, his signings so far have not been bad btw so fingers crossed.
I am very confident that Ten Hag will not be able to continue the achievements that Alonso previously built. Alonso found it easier to understand the character of each player and was skilled at taking a personalized approach to every individual. This made the chemistry between players and coach very strong, which in turn made it easier to implement the planned strategies. On the other hand, Ten Hag seems more like an egotistical coach and has had issues with several players during his time at Manchester United. I have also heard that Leverkusen has signed some new players, but I remain skeptical until he truly delivers concrete results in the upcoming season.
