The Club World Cup gave me mixed emotions. The quality of football was great — teams played their best lineups and really fought for the win. It was clear they were motivated not just by trophies, but by serious prize money too. This wasn’t a pre-season tournament.
But there were issues as well: matches had to be stopped for over an hour due to lightning, which totally broke the rhythm of the game. Many stands were half-empty, and the atmosphere just wasn’t there. The schedule was odd, ticket prices were high, and overall organization could’ve been much better.
The world Club cup was great, very entertaining and it also generated over a billion dollars and the pay check for teams was mouth watering.
But the thing this world cup did for FIFA and the US is help them see how prepared they are for the world cup. A great tournament but heat, and timing of the matches is an issue they need to address. Some of the matches was player at odd hours in regions from my time zone, so when fixing would cup match times FIFA has to put this into consideration. Also players complained about the texture of the field this is another thing that needs to be worked on.
