<..snip..>
Now, I’m a father, and my 17-year-old daughter is starting to gamble too playing slots and even doing some sports betting. I don’t know how to feel, part of me feels oddly proud of what she’s doing.
What does that make me?
I think this is a crucial time for you to have a discussion with your daughter regarding her gambling habbits.
Sure you have mentioned that by gambling at an early age, you became a risk-taker which ultimately affected your attitude now. But let me ask you, is it really worth the risk of letting your own daughter gamble for the sake of developing such attitude? They can most likely develop all kinds of learnings from other methods and not just in gambling.
Let me just remind you that in this stage, the cons overwhelmingly outweigh the pros. You should definitely explain to her the other side of gambling and its destructive effects. Worst, this can also lead to her downfall if she fails to control her addiction.
