why would the casinos offer this when they are the cause? they will lose customers if they did this the most they can do probably is restrict you from playing if you just ask them because you can no longer control yourself

This is why there is a feature called self-exclusion in some gambling sites. If you opt for it, it means, you are restricting yourself to this activity for some reasons. And it is on your own accord whether you will open a new account to another gambling site or not. Because you can easily create a new account in another site and avoid the self-exclusion on the previous one.
