I don't know. But if I don't do it and it turns out it was necessary after all, I'm too late by the time I find out. This just gives me more peace of mind, and I don't really see a reason why not to do this: it's only one tickbox during installation, nothing else changes and I need to usetype a password to login anyway. I don't think my spare laptop gets slower from an additional layer of encryption, as it has multiple CPU cores and I barely use one of them. ..So it's really a no-brainer to also encrypt the home directory.

Ask yourself this: if someone gets their hands on your spare laptop during a trip, would you want 1 or 2 layers of encryption?

A keyboard I don't like typing on my phone, and I do trust my laptop a lot more than my phone. I don't use much more than just a browser though, or maybe watch a movie.
