Anyway I just want to hear your thoughts about this.
Are you talking about the UK? I haven't read anything about it in Dutch legacy media (no surprise there), but saw it on several places online. The cherry on top was a video "explaining" you should really not use a VPN and just show your passport at any website to protect children! This sounds as dumb as having to click cookie warnings on tens of thousands of websites, but with much larger repercussions. It also sounds a lot like banning guns for honest people, while criminals still have guns.
None of this is going to help any child, but the next data leak at Pornhub UK is going to be epic!

I've received hundreds of spam mails asking me to pay in Bitcoin. Now they want you to send a video to the porn site. Next step will be requiring you to  keep your webcam on during your visit on the site "to make sure no kids are watching". Crazy times!

People no longer cared, as if they ever cared for it in the first place.
I notice it in real life many times per year: most people don't seem to care, or don't even understand the imporance of privacy. We have massive surveillance now, from governments to millions of individuals (smart doorbells) and corporations (portable microphones in everyone's pocket). Best I can do is keep my online life completely seperate from my real life.

Those laws remind me of this:
