It is wise that you were able to realize it then and act on it. Some people never end up realizing their mistakes and get stuck in a loop where they can no longer benefit from bitcoin for one reason or another. Though nothing ever is really too late when it comes to bitcoin since it does come in cycles but the sooner you realize things, the sooner you can see your progress with bitcoin and see how much you have benefitted from it.
