Freedom is a quite relative concept of you think about it, there are several ways to see it and believe one is free or instead, living under oppression. In this case, I don't personally like to see freedom as a binary concept I rather to see it as a spectrum, where there are countless states of freedom, some more open than others which are more restricting.
In the case of the way you see the world and freedom, I believe you are over-estimating the power Trump has over the world and even his own country (as president), if he had that absolute power you mention, then the USA would not be a republic anymore, and still it is.
Also, Afghanistan would have not fallen under the rule of Taliban, as it did.
