I'll be honest, I don't use Tor, but I'm also increasingly understanding this point and starting to think about some adjustments I'll have to make in the future.
For many quick swap crypto exchanges Tor is the best option for privacy. I was not using Tor for normal browsing of clearnet websites, but I recently found out it can be very useful when you need to get some answers from AI tools.
Without Tor browser it would be much harder to get more free answers, but with Tor I can simply do it by clicking New Identity button
remember that we also have flaws at the hardware level, namely the firmware
we don't know what they do now inside the firmware
Most likely they are blackboxes with backdoor access. we don't know what they do now inside the firmware
in fact I would prefer to use old devices with secure firmware, like old thinkpads in practice, with linux obviously
Same here, but even they have ''dirty'' firmware, so you would need to hack them and install Libreboot or something similar.But that is much harder for average user than simply updating firmware on hardware wallets, or installing Graphene OS on Pixel phones.
I always say that it depends on what you have to do, there are different levels to which you can descend, both in terms of paranoia and security.
They certainly have very complex and very important 0 days, but they certainly aren't going to use them with a user of the bitcointalk forum because they risk burning them
so you have to reach an acceptable level of safety for what "you want to do"
If you want to browse the forum peacefully, an old Linux PC is ideal.
Well, in that case we should have some type of hardware that should be open source at firmware level. I believe RISC-V is something that could play some important role in life of privacy enthusiasts. However, I don't know if it's possible to have open source level firmware on RISC-V but as far as I know the processor architecture is open source, but again someone themselves won't be able to create a processor out of it, that's also going to be created by a company but if the company makes firmware of it open source then that's going to be much helpful.
open hardware is also a good solution
