Usually Dortmund always makes a surprise in the transfer market because it always manages to sell players at a very fantastic price.
I initially thought that after Dortmund acquired Guirassy, I thought Dortmund would sell him for a high price in this season's transfer window. This made me wonder if Dortmund had a good plan this season, keeping him to achieve something. I have a feeling that if Dortmund retains some of their best players without selling them, the team will pull off a few surprises this season.
That’s the thing with Dortmund — we’re so used to seeing them operate as a talent farm that when they actually keep a proven striker like Guirassy, it makes you stop and think: maybe this season they’re aiming for something bigger than just cashing in.
If they resist the urge to sell and keep a solid core together, they could finally break the “develop–sell–rebuild” cycle that’s been holding them back from consistent silverware. With Guirassy up front, they’ve got a clinical finisher who can turn half-chances into goals, and if the rest of the squad stays intact, they might just have enough firepower and stability to surprise the Bundesliga — maybe even push Bayern harder than usual.
But of course, this is Dortmund… so I’ll believe it when the transfer window closes without them shipping someone off for €80M.
