Sometimes, it isn't always about the money but it depends on the availability of players on the market and their interest. Al Nassr may try to sign more defenders, unfortunately not many top right backs or left backs have the intention to leave their current teams. In this condition, Al Nassr has no chance to sign them. Well, I see the quality of local players isn't quite convincing, especially for the defenders. The challenge is, there is a limit of maximum foreign players in Saudi teams.
The defenders they have failed to perform well. On paper, Mohamed Simakan and Aymeric Laporte are very good players, but it was their poor form which cost Al Nassr a number of matches during the last season. The team management should also be blamed. Rather than getting 1-2 good defenders in the squad, they were focusing on the forwards, needlessly spending money on Jhon Durán and Kingsley Coman. And this was one of the reasons for the frictions between Ronaldo and the management.
This is the major reason why I love a team that works cooperatively not just to overely on one-two individual players to perform as a team, and we all saw what it cost them, Al Nassr last season. Taking you for instance, Chelsea football club is typically an example of
a team that works collectively, else Chelsea wouldn't have bounced back better in the way they're riht now,
after struggling for a season or two, and after the club was sold, if not for the fact that this team does not depend on any individual player to play as team, but anyone can change the game for them and bring victory.
