Healthy gambling. I agree. The question is: How is it done?
I believe that when we realize that we are spending too much time gambling, that's when we become conscious of our wasted time. That is what happened to me. Right now, I only play in my spare time, especially when I am idle. 1 hour of playing is good enough, and I am always hoping that the initial deposit will last that long. If not, then I will just ignore playing again and try again the next day.
I think it's best if we know that gambling is not going away. It's us that must keep the distance whenever we have a chance. That's to avoid gambling excessively.
Not only time but also finances must be stabilized for healthy gambling.
You're right, as you said, we shouldn't get addicted and must be able to manage our gambling time so that it's not wasted. However, in my opinion, the most important thing is that we must also be able to manage our finances to ensure our gambling is safe. So, we should only gamble with fresh money or extra money after meeting all our living expenses.
The whole meta is the combination of time cap with bankroll limits. Your minutes and Dollars need to have that strict boundary and when you reach either of them just place a full stop and bounce away. Use deposit/time limits in-app. IMO, there are pretty good tools, such as limit reminders and pre-commitment tools that help to reduce the damage and spending. Just avoid chasing the losses, which is a classic tilt trap and only bet with the income that you truly consider as disposable. If you do not understand how the time flies when betting, just schedule block sessions, add a 7-day cooldown, or try excluding yourself. Therefore, make a proper schedule, use the money just for entertainment and just quit when the limit is reached, and do not make any exceptions.
