That’s a really tough experience and it clearly shows why securing private keys should always be taken seriously because once they are lost or compromised there is almost no way to get access back unlike with banks or centralized platforms where you can recover your account, many people underestimate the risk of storing keys on their computer phone or even in cloud storage because while it feels convenient those devices are always vulnerable to malware hacks accidental deletion or even just someone else gaining access without you realizing it and by the time you notice it’s already too late, that’s why using a hardware wallet or writing down the seed phrase and keeping it in a very safe and secure location like a lockbox or safe is often the best practice to minimize those risks.
