Sport betting helps the sport industry a lot, the boxing, football, basketball, etc all have direct link to the gambling industry. In as much as they've made a lot through the gaming niche, they's a high tendency that gambling led to the high rate of rigged games. And added to why football is not too thrilling like in the 80s or 90s. Think about players who willingly make mistakes just to lose a game so as to win their bets. I think that's a negative impact brought by the gambling deals and endorsements into the sports industry.

Is winning a bet really a lot more worth it or desirable than just being recognized as a great athlete and earning from that? Why risk your whole reputation? I am thinking that those who do that do not really have much love for the sport if this is the case. If they can put money over their love for the sport and sportsmanship.
