This is what worries some other countries that prohibit gambling, fearing that addiction will spread more severely among their people.

Sri Lanka is a small country, so it is natural that it wants to revive its economy through gambling taxes in order to build infrastructure in the country. Several other countries have opened up widely, and this is beneficial for a country.

Still, other countries prohibit gambling because they are concerned about its impact, since severe addiction becomes a problem for a country.

Wont it be logical for other countries, that cannot gain enough from import, dont have enough natural resources to keep economy healthy, to use gambling tax as an instrument to improve economy? Increase of addiction cannot be predicted, but consequences of excess gambling are inevitable. If that is clear, then why only Sri Lanka made a move towards being more open to gambling, while other countries see gambling as a problem only and want to ban, decrease its existence in their country or make it limited? Is Sri Lanka more brave or smart than others?
