Cheteshwar Pujara was not seen in the Indian national team for the whole year but whenever a Test format was organized, Cheteshwar Pujara's name came up as an auto choice. This player had prepared himself in such a way that the selectors could not consider him anywhere else outside Test cricket. Usually, we have seen before that no matter how good a player plays in the Test format, he is given opportunities in other formats, at least in the IPL there are good offers for him but this Indian star did not get that opportunity. Various IPL teams thought that if Cheteshwar Pujara plays in their team, he will bat in the Test style, which will make their team unable to compete with other teams, which is probably why he was not included in the IPL. However, like me, many people wanted to see him succeed in white ball cricket as well as in red ball cricket.
I agree Cheteshwar Pujara was great player for India in Test cricket and his strong skills give him opportunity and he was always top pick for national team Test matches. But even with his success he was not chosen to play in other cricket formats like IPL. This was likely because his slow and careful batting style which works well in Test matches was seen as bad fit for faster more aggressive style of play needed in IPL. With this many fans still wanted to see him get chance to show what he could do in shorter games.
