Yeah this is happening because of the "you owe us mentality. The coaches are getting appointments not based on merits but based on connections they have and people that can do what the cartels want. This is a playground for most of the politicians because they choose people that they have relationships with to get into the national team. They're using their influence to give their people visibility without caring about how it's affecting the team play. We have reduced from the footballing nation we used to be known for to a joke now and haven't won the AFCON tournament in like more than a decade.
Most of the West African countries big footballing nations are in the rebuilding phases just like the Super eagles Although we are aware that the Super Eagles have not yet accomplished anything with this group of players, we must keep in mind that they are the current AFCON runner-up and have outperformed some of our West African football rivals, like Ghana and Cameron, during the past 5 years.
