But how can you continue with gambling if you don't have the means because you have lost your job? And that is the worst advise though, as you have to look at gambling as a substitute for a lost job? It doesn't work that way, we all know that that odds against us when we gamble are very much high, and we all know that there will always be the house edge that are going to kill us in the long run. If that happens to me and losing my only means to make money, I will also have to rethink and reset everything specially there are people around that rely on you.
Loosing your job doesn’t mean one doesn’t get to eat, doesn’t get to afford certain necessities or don’t get to go about certain duties owed to themselves. When you find something to be of need, you would make out the means.
True, people who lost their job often have backpay or separation pay. So the person will have funds to sustain his needs until he runs out of it or find another job. Sadly if the person does not care about tomorrow he might end up gambling all this money and runs out of it if unlucky. So if one day he don't have any funds, he might end up selling any sellable belongings just to meet up his needs and possibly gamble with the little money he earn from selling his things.
This applies to gambling as well. Loosing your job wouldn’t keep you from it, you would by some means sort out the funds that you would need to satisfy your gambling habit, just in the same way you are able to feed without a means. It doesn’t mean you would gamble with the stakes you are used to but, would limit it to your current predicament.
For those who knows how to adjust but gambling addicts will fail in this matter. He will continuously gamble without any reserve until he has to borrow money. This is the reason why we must guard ourselves from gambling addiction. Gambling is ok until we loose our control.
