It all depends, some take their time for a routine upgrade because they have the sense of responsibility that makes everyone to always have something new and unique form the previous experience, while some platforms don't implement or work on this at all.

Yeah some upgrades affect a players loyalty in such a way that, let's say the player has been used to a particular game features and then having upgraded it will seems not fun and thrilling to him pending how he sees it.
