Rich ppl aren't protected from addiction. If you're rich you'll bet more money but it doesn't guarantee you're going to win. Poor ppl bet less money but they're at the same risk they're going to get addicted.
Everyone indeed gets addicted to gambling, both rich and poor. No matter the amount of money each of them stakes and how much they have in their bank account, they will get addicted and lose it all if they don't learn how to properly manage their gambling habit and activities. No wealth status is immune to gambling addiction; getting addicted is personal and not by how much the person has.

It's true that every gambler has the potential to become addicted, regardless of whether they are rich or poor. However, poor people tend to be misunderstood by many because their motive for gambling is suspected to be to change their circumstances, so they are considered more vulnerable to addiction than the rich. Basically, both are the same, because the key to not getting addicted lies in managing emotions and managing finances well.

Meanwhile, the duration of gambling certainly also has an effect. Many poor people are unemployed and have a lot of free time, so once again, they are considered to have more time to place bets. In reality, with today technological advancements, where gambling can be accessed anywhere and at any time, every gambler has an equally great chance of becoming addicted.
