Just don't overdo it because the interest some of these companies add when you miss the payment are ridiculous.
One time I forgot to pay my electric bill and literally 3 days later they added 1% interest. I wish my bank was paying me that much... I wouldn't have to work at all.

The easiest way to save money is to change your habits. Keep temperatures low. If you like 22*C in the house, make it 21, the next year reduce it to 20. You can actually do fine at 19 too if you feel like it. The lowest I've managed to get on a daily basis was 18 but since I have kids who like to sit and play on the floor a lot, I no longer go that low.
Do the same with your tap water if you have your own heater. I've had mine set to 38*C and that's enough, while I know people who have their heaters set to 45.
Don't leave appliances on when you're not using them. Turn off what you can when you leave the room. And most the important thing, quit smoking!
