Well to be fair, stake is not THAT strict about their geo blocks, when you have an old account. Still hundreds or maybe thousands of Germans still play on stake using a VPN. If you try to open the site without it won't let you do anything. I am visiting Germany at the moment and I tried, so since then I am using a Japanese VPN.
Only new players from restricted regions won't be allowed to use stake since they already fail at the first KYC hurdle.

I heard about this case as well and maybe if India will also be a restricted country later, Stake may still allow old players from India to stay and play in Stake by using VPN. If India players contribute decent wager everyday/week/month so far, I think Stake will not let them go easily so maybe Stake will try to make win-win solution.
