Those that have never been addicted won't really understand how it feels battling with addiction of any kind, and the best way to handle addiction is self exclusion, self exclusion in a way that, the addict himself will be the one to push for detachment from gambling in the end, and not those around him, since ops mentioned the victim is his friend, he can talk him into hating his addiction first as a means of withdrawal from gambling slowly.

Gambling addiction is such a horrible experience which only the by standers understand the real evil it is doing to the addict. The addict can even deny that it is not good for him and would occasionally claim that he knows what he is doing even when he actually doesn't know. I had a friend too who was addicted to gambling about 10 years ago. When me and some of my friends discovered he was already too addicted, we had to device a way of always being closer to him to monitor his gambling daily. Thanks goodness that he wasn't very tech-informed so he plays more in the bet houses, so if by any means you can restrict him from going to the bet house, you have succeeded in saving his ass for that day.

Each time he relapses after deciding to quit, if I ask him why it's difficult for him to quit he would always reply with "You won't understand". This got me more curious to know. Majority of gambling addicts will always return to it, they can change their style by either moving from using agents to using individual accounts. Using agents could be saving you more than having an online account to avoid getting lost till forever.
