It was not an easy win though but they secured the 3 points which is necessary. This is just their first game of the Eropa cup season and I'm hoping for them to get a better improvement in their next game. Maybe Aston villa took Bologna for granted that they failed to prepare way better, and if that is the case, I believe they will do very much better.
Aston Villa didn't take Bologna for granted instead, they were too confident in themselves. Look at how many chances that was missed in the first half. Aston Villa had several opportunities to double their lead but they failed. Watkins got a penalty for himself and still lost it. I was shocked to see that he played the penalty straight to the direction of the goalie.
Villa should be happy that Bologna has no good finisher, if not they would have equalized the goal and share points with them. However, Aston Villa got their first victory and I believe it should motive them to play better in their domestic games because they have broken the yoke of defeat.
