What do you, guys, think about a giveaway that gives people simcoins, proportional to the amount of Bitcoins they own?

Let's say we declare a day on which we take a "snapshot" of the Bitcoin's blockchain.

The "snapshot" is how Bitshares distributes coins (or shares).  I think it is reasonably elegant.  I think their IPO process is well thought out and a lot can be learned from it.

For instance, I think if you staggered your initial IPO you would have had less complaints from investors.  For example, do a weekly auction for 5%, you run it for 3 months to get 60% distributed.  That way people know what to expect and can stagger their investment but people in the first week are not upset that people in the later weeks dilute their investment.

Having staged investments solves the problem that right now some investors are not motivated to encourage simcoin until the IPO is closed.

Also, I used to like the idea of world community grid, but truthfully it's a waste of time.  It's not like you'll be getting it out to some big portion of the public.  The only people that will mine it that way are crypto miners who will do it until it's not profitable.  You may as well just let people buy shares instead of going through the hassle.  This just sounds good to people who are still stuck in a POW mindset.

As far as communities to target with a snapshot,
I think there are pros and cons of bitcoin, NXT, bitshares, or other targeted giveaways.

What if the person who stole all the Mt.Gox funds got a big stake in simcoin?

BTW, NXT has switched away from the numerical addresses.  I think you may be losing ground doing development all by yourself when bigger teams are working on other projects.  Will simcoin really be relevant by the time it is released? At some point you may be better off going open source, publishing what you are doing, and trying to attract developers.  There will always be clones but if you believe in your abilities I think the market rewards the innovators not the copiers.
