but how do I transfer my DRK coins over to that wallet?

The wallet.dat file from your original wallet that you backed up is what contains your coins. If you are just moving the coins to different local computer, just follow the steps I posted earlier:

The wallet won't sync until you upgrade to the latest client.

You don't need to transfer the coins if you are just upgrading the wallet on the same computer. Replace the old darkcoin-qt.exe with the new one and start the wallet, that's all you need to do beside backing up the wallet.dat in case of the unlikely event something goes wrong.
